Falconets Assistant Captain Calls For Focus Ahead of France Clash

Falconets assistant captain Bashirat Amoo has called for total focus as the National U-20 side face France in their opening Group C tie at the 2022 World Cup which kicked off in Costa Rica on Wednesday.
The two-time finalist in 2010 and 2014 will also come against South Korea and Canada who they would clash against on August 14 and 18.
Ahead of their first game at the ongoing tournament, Amoo who is one of the few who had played for the senior national team, the Super Falcons wants the team to remain focus ahead of their scheduled encounter with France.
Kick-off is tonight at 12am.
While the other rivals including France were engaged in preparatory games, the Falconets could not tie down an international friendly as their planned tour in Colombia few days before the commencement of the tournament was put off.
Despite this set back, a confident Amoo called on the team to keep their eyes on the prize as they have what it takes to achieve their goal at the tournament.
“We are going to make our country and our coaches proud in Costa Rica. We are not going to relent just because we didn’t get any international friendly games. We are going to win. I believe we have to be focused and win our first game against France. I believe God is going to be on our side by his grace.” A philosophical Amoo said.
In 2018, the team couldn’t go past the quarter-final but there is an excitement among the young girls who are eager to make a mark on the world stage with their talents.
“We have many talented players among us, we have players who do not have international experience likewise, we have a few who have been on the international scene for the Super Falcons like our captain and myself who were at the World Cup in 2018. I believe we are going to give our best and not boast. We have trained enough and we are positive on making an impact at this World Cup.”
The team coach by Christopher Danjuma has set a target of getting to the final of the tournament.
Nigeria and Ghana are Africa representatives at the 16-nation tournament which is now in is 10th edition.
