The much awaited second edition  of Emmanuel Egbele Annual Scrabble Tournament (EEAST) gets underway this Friday with top players aiming for some share of the two million naira on offer.
A total of 16 round of games will be battled for in the two-day affair slated for the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Freshly crowned West Africa Scrabble Tournament champion Eta Karo will bring his board strategy to bear as he will have to contend against familiar rivals in the championship.
Top scrabble jammers and wordlords already set for the contest are; former World Champion Wellington Jighere,  Enoch Nwali,  Olatunde Oduwole and Emmanuel Umujose.
Defending champion Dokun Esan who has already landed in Lagos for the scrabble extravaganza has also expressed his strong desire to wade off challengers to his title.
The winner is expected to bag home a cash prize of 250,000 naira as well as some other exciting gifts and consolation prizes for participants.
The tournament has leaned on the backings of CINQ-SAA, PanafricanSports, BizzyBody, MGi, Lekki Scrabble Club,  Leonse International, SAOR and Eko Hotel & Suites for some support.
Meanwhile, the initiator of the tournament  Emmanuel Egbele said all strategic plans have been activated by the committee to deliver the “Sophomore Edition” as one of the best scrabble experience in the present era.
He added that Eko Hotel was  selected deliberately to give an International ambience to a tournament of this nature.
The EEAST will be used as a rating- points garnering tournament for the MGi Scrabble Grand Slam slated for October this year.
The Nigeria Scrabble Federation rated event will also be a veritable ground for players to prepare for the National Sports Festival taking place in Asaba in November.
