Nnamdi Innocent, one of Nigeria’s leading men powerlifter and top women wrestler Blessing Oborududu have been selected as Captains for Team Nigeria.
Oborodudu who won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics Games will be in Birmingham to defend her gold medal title which she won in the 65kg category in 2018.
Meanwhile, the flagbearers at Thursday’s Opening Ceremony will be Nnamdi Prosper, and powerlifter Oluwafemiayo Foashade who is the world record holder in her category.
Prosper, who is 20 years old and the national record holder in Javelin will be hoping to finish on the podium in Birmingham while the veteran powerlifter Folashade will be seeking another ‘golden’ outing for Nigeria.
The opening ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games will hold at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom on Thursday from 7.15pm.
