Benin, Edo State was a fertile ground for Hurricanes and Southern Crowns as they both emerged champions of Division A and Division B respectively at the end of Matchday Three proceedings of the 2022 Mindgames Scrabble Premier League (MSPL).

The Hurricanes comprising Enoch Nwali, Timilehin Doko, Mayuku Tuoyo, Oyadiran Olabiyi and Jimoh Abdulmumin propelled the team to the summit with a record of 8 wins and 4 defeats with cumulative points of 1219 after 12 round of games.

In-form Enoch Nwali sustained the team’s tempo at the top with a dominant show on the board by posting 11 wins and one defeat in the individual standings.

Airpop Alpha who however, lead on the overall table after Matchday Three, claimed the second spot with 8 wins and 4 defeats due to lower individual points as well as cumulative points of 1156.

Bulldozers, Supremes, Bayelsa Maestros and Lekki Bombers would finish in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th positions having pulled 7 wins and 5 defeats each but were distinguished by their players’ points.

Tekena Drones, Brainiacs, Indomitables, Gracious Pickers, Phoenix and Sterling Bombers would complete the 12-team table accordingly.


In Dvision B, Southern Crowns continued to shimmer at the pinnacle of the table with their dazzling display as they maintained their pole position on Matchday Three.

Osawe Victor (11-1), Ituah Oyasele (8-4), Atti Daystar (7-5), Umokoro Oghomaria (7-5) and Zuofa Peres (6-6) strong showing was good enough to crown them Kings at the day.

Anagrammers finished second on the day but remained third on the overall standing ahead of Bayelsa Virtuoso.

D’Warriors with Babatunde Adeagbo’s 10 wins and two defeats were fourth ahead of Aries which came fifth on the day but were second on the overall table.

The only all-female cast team Airpop Falcons finished the day in sixth ahead of Matadors, FPC Titans, Encore Flamingos, High Flyers, BSP Rangers and Gracious Pickers Team B who completed the table accordingly.

Top three teams and the top 10 placed individual players in both divisions received cash prizes.

The final day of the league season will hold in October this year.
