After a successful event in Ijebu-Igbo on Friday night, the attention has now moved to the final day of hostilities in the Yucateco boxing league season 2 grand finale.
All is now set for the Yucateco Showdown Series Main event on Sunday June 29th at Bintol Hotel In Sagamu, Ogun State.
Sunday's event will be the most colorful of them all as a new champion will be crowned in the first ever Olympic style boxing league in Africa. With 10 exciting bouts guaranteed guaranteed to thrill the fans and spectators, all eyes will be on last Season’s Most Valuable Boxer (MVB) 63.5kg Abdulramon Abdulwahab as he faces one more hurdle against another brave heart Riliwan Salawu of Akil boxing club.
Abdulramon prides himself with the much elusive Yucateco Pan-African tittle after he defeated Egypt's Hagar Elsayed in 2024. Omo' London as he's nicknamed by his fans holds an impressive 100% record with 10 wins, 3 KOs, and 49pts in the current campaign.
The highly technical pugilists said he's determined to finish on the high on Sunday as he eyes another MVB Crown.
In his words: " It has been an exciting season for me and I give God all the glory, tomorrow's bout won't be easy because my opponent also boast of an impressive record, though he's a good boxer, but he won't survive my onslaught in the ring tomorrow".
Abdulwahab further revealed his desire to represent Nigeria at Major international tournaments including the Olympics.
" I am the best in my weight category as at today in Nigeria, my aim is to fly the colors of our great Nation at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as well as other major international events". Abdulramon added.
The purse money for the winning club of the Yucateco boxing league season 2 is N50 million. There will also be individual prizes for outstanding boxers across the 13 weight categories. The first position will pocket N2 million, the runner-up will smile home with the sum of N1 million, while the third placed will received a consolation prize of N500,000.
