Oyo To Partner Yucateco In Boxing Development As Imadu Pledges Boxing Ring To The State

The Oyo State Commissioner for Sports And Youth Development Hon. Wasilat Adefemi Adegoke has disclosed the state readiness to partner with Yucateco Boxing Promotions in boxing development across the state. Hon. Adegoke made this known during a strategic meeting with Hon. Omonlei Imadu, CEO Yucateco Boxing Promotions and his team in Ibadan on Wednesday.
The meeting held at the Hon. commissioner's office at the Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, also had in attendance the state Director of Sports Mrs. Olubisi Adejoke among other dignitaries. In her remarks, the Hon. Commissioner for Sports Wasilat Adegoke said the Oyo State Ministry of Youth And Sports Development will collaborate with Yucateco Boxing Promotions to develop the sports across the state.
In her words: " We are so excited to have Hon. Omonlei Imadu in Ibadan for this very important collaboration, his contributions to boxing development in Nigeria can not be over emphasized and we hope to create a productive partnership to develop boxing across the 33 Local Government Area of our state". Said Hon. Wasilat.
The President of the Boxing Promoters Association Of Nigeria (BPAN) Omonlei Imadu, said the partnership is aimed at building a robust boxing culture in Oyo state and the entire South-west region.
" Firstly, i will like to commend the Hon. Commissioner and the entire Sports family in Oyo state for their hospitality, this wouldn't have been possible without their unflagging commitment and support".
" This collaboration will open a more productive window for boxing development in the south-west through talent discovery, training and exposure to consistent competition".
The Yucateco boss Pledges to donate a boxing Ring to the state boxing association as well as initiate an inter-LGA competition to discover boxing talents across the state.
As part of his effort to revamp boxing infrastructure in the south-west Imadu recently donated a boxing Ring to the Ekiti State boxing association.
