Nigeria’s Flying Eagles suffered their first defeat in Group D as goals from Jean Pedroso and Marquinhos handed Brazil a 2-0 victory in their last group game of the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
Italy’s 3-0 victory over Group D bottom side the Dominican Republic meant they finished level on six points with Nigeria and Brazil.
The South Americans, however, topped the group on goals difference followed by Italy with Nigeria finishing in third place.
All three teams have progressed to the round of 16 with Nigeria progressing as one of the best third-placed teams in the tournament.
