HFN President Congratulates U-18 Female Team On IHF Challenge Trophy
The President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria Mr. Sam Ocheho has congratulated the national under 18 female team for making Nigeria proud in the just concluded IHF Challenge Trophy in Niamey, Niger Republic.
The cadet team won all of their games at the international handball Federation sanctioned challenge over the weekend and took gold after defeating host Niger Republic 30-16 to emerge overall winner of the competition.
The feat of the team coached by Abdukadir Yusuf earned them a qualification to the continental championship later in the year and HFN president, Ocheho praise the team for their dedication and hard work during the competition.
The national under 20 female handball team, however didn't get a qualification slot to the continental championship as they lost their final game 38-24 to Benin Republic.
Despite that, Sam Ocheho congratulated the team for putting up a good performance which earned them a silver despite not getting a qualification slot.
"They deserve all commendations for the good performance they had at the competition which earned them silver.
I know they will do better next time" Ocheho concluded
The secretary general of HFN Alhaji Maigidansanma Mohammed believes the junior team can only get better as the federation will continue to support the Coach Uzor Obi tutored side.
